Why Community Matters in Healing

Did you know that doing something within a community doesn’t have to mean a crowd?

At my vitae, community can be a soft place to land when you’re ready.

For a lot of community members we’ve encountered, their healing started in solitude, whether intentionally or as a result of circumstance.

Whether this journey involved reading, reflecting or other efforts to try to understand what their heart, body or nervous systems were going through, they retreated a little (or a lot), especially when their worlds got too loud or just felt a little too much.

But, at some point for many, there’s also an undeniable shift that changes all of this, or how it feels.

There can come a time when being alone with your healing begins to feel heavy over helpful. While you may not be ready to “open up” about it, or have people notice you’re going through it, you may still feel this pull to be around others who are also tending to themselves.

This is where community healing begins. But don’t think of it like a group project or public reveal. Think of it as a subtle, powerful connection, a shared presence, even if you don’t verbally share everything you’re going through.

The Benefits of Healing in a Community (Even Quietly)

While solitude can be a powerful starting point and point of return, many people find that something shifts when they allow themselves to be supported by a shared space.

This doesn’t have to mean speaking in groups or sharing your story or journey with anyone.

Healing together can look like:

  • Moving your body alongside others

  • Sitting in silence where no one expects anything from you

  • Expressing something through breath, movement, or art without words

  • Realizing you're not the only one navigating grief, fatigue, uncertainty, or change

How We Heal Together at my vitae

At our holistic healing space here in Oakville, Ontario, community is woven into everything we offer but never pushed.

You’re simply invited to join when you’re ready, and in ways that feel aligned with your own rhythm.

Appreciated offerings among our community include:

Yoga & Movement Classes

Our classes are drop-in, presence-led sessions with no membership and no pressure.

Whether it’s grounding yoga or somatic movement, these classes invite your body back into rhythm alongside others.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Offered for individuals, couples, and families, expressive arts therapy provides a creative way to explore emotion, relationship dynamics, and self-expression together.

There’s no need to be “artistic.” You’ll be guided through modalities like visual art, voice, journaling, or movement in a way that feels safe and connective.

Community Events & Workshops

From full moon gatherings to seasonal resets, our events are spaces for shared reflection and ritual. You might breathe together, move together, let go together.

At the time of writing, our next event is our Flow & Let Go: Pisces Full Moon Workshop. These sessions offer a collective experience of softening without pressure to share or perform.
